WHY WE MADE IT

Nami is a Florida mini Aussie with two different-colored eyes and a real problem with the heat. She will hunt down every patch of shade on a walk, and then beg to go to the beach anyway. All that sand and hot sidewalk is rough on little paws, and every balm we could find was built for snow and winter cracking. So we made one for our world.

Five ingredients. Nothing she can't safely lick off. That's the whole product.

The balm is firm and concentrated on purpose. Clean ingredients, no fillers, no water.

Rub your finger over the top for a few seconds to soften it, then press your dog's paw right onto the tin, or massage a little into each clean, dry pad.

Best after walks, beach days and hikes, or at bedtime so it soaks in while they rest, with no tracking around the house. Reapply whenever pads look dry or rough.

This is pad care and recovery, not heat protection. On hot days, walk at dawn or dusk, or stick to grass.

Why a paw balm at all?

"Her paws are fine, though."

That is what we thought too. Here is what changed our mind.

A paw pad is three things at once: the sole of the shoe, the shock absorber for every joint above it, and the barrier between your dog and the ground. It flexes thousands of times on a single walk.

Pads are supposed to be tough. That part is healthy and we are not trying to change it. The problem in a place like Florida is the cycle: hot pavement, then sand, then salt water, then pavement again. Heat and friction and drying, over and over.

Think of leather. Supple leather bends all day and springs back. Leave it in the sun and it goes hard, then it goes cracked. A pad that has dried out does not get softer when it fails. It gets rigid, and rigid things split.

And here is the part most owners do not know: dogs hide foot pain. They do not limp until it is bad. What you actually see, long before that, is smaller.

Why do I need this? Her paws seem fine.

They probably are. Dry pads do not look like much until they crack, and dogs hide foot pain, so most owners find out late. The tells are subtle: licking a paw, slowing down, favouring a foot, stopping partway through a walk. If none of that is happening, this is maintenance. If any of it is, it is worth a look.
